  1. Ash gourd 1/4 kg
  2. Yellow lentils 1 cup
  3. Water
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Chopped tomatoes 1 cup
  6. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Jaggery lemon sized
  9. Ginger paste 2 tsp
  10. Tamarind gooseberry sized
  11. Asafoetida 2 pinches
  12. For tempering..
  13. Cooking oil 2 tsp
  14. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  15. Red chilli 1
  16. Curry leaves few

Instructions

  1. CUT ASH GOURD IN TO SOME PIECES, SCOOP OUT SEEDS AND SEPARATE THE SOFT FLESH
  2. PEEL THE SKIN
  3. CHOP INTO SMALL CUBES
  4. COOK WASHED YELLOW LENTILS
  5. COVER AND COOK IN LOW FLAME UNTIL MASHY
  6. CHECK THE COOKNESS
  7. ADD ASH GOURD CUBES
  8. MIX WELL, COVER AND COOK
  9. STIR IN BETWEEN
  10. ADD CHOPPED TOMATOES, ALLOW IT TO BOIL
  11. TURMERIC POWDER
  12. SALT TO TASTE
  13. GINGER PASTE
  14. WASH AND SQUEEZE GOOSEBERRY SIZED TAMARIND
  15. ADD TAMARIND SQUASH
  16. LEMON SIZED JAGGERY
  17. ASAFOETIDA 2 PINCH
  18. TEMPERING
  19. ADD CURRY LEAVES
  20. ADD TEMPERING
  21. MIX WELL, TURN OFF THE FLAME AND SERVE IN HOT
