This south indian style chutney tastes excellent with idli,dosa and uttapam.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Tomatoes 2
  2. Onion 2
  3. Groundnut oil 1 tbsp
  4. Urad dal 1/2 tsp
  5. Dry red chilli 2
  6. Asafetida 1/4 tsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Tamarind 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. TAKE A TBSP OF GROUNDNUT OR SESAME SEED OIL.
  2. ADD 1/2 TSP URAD DAAL.LET IT TURN LIGHT BROWN.
  3. ADD 2 DRY RED CHILLIES.SAUTE.
  4. ADD 2 FINELY CHOPPED ONIONS.SAUTE TILL THEY TURN SLIGHTLY BROWN.
  5. ADD 1/4 TSP ASAFOETIDA AND 2 CHOPPED TOMATOES.
  6. SEASON WITH SALT.LET THE TOMATOES COOK WELL.
  7. TOMATOES ARE COOKED NOW.SWITCH OFF GAS.
  8. AFTER ONION TOMATO MIX COOLS DOWN ADD IT TO A MIXER JAR.ADD 1/2 TSP TAMARIND.
  9. GRIND TO A SMOOTH PASTE.
