ABOUT Ambot Tik/ Goan Prawn Curry RECIPE

Authentic Prawn curry from Goa, this is spicy , tangy delicious prawn curry which I am sure everyone would have tasted it atleast once if they have visited Goa

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500g cleaned prawns
  2. To grind
  3. 1 cup grated coconut
  4. 5-6 garlic cloves
  5. 8 to 10 Kashmiri Red Chillies
  6. 1 tsp peppercorns
  7. 1 inch cinnamon stick
  8. 2 teaspoon jeera
  9. 2 tbsp coriander seeds
  10. 3-4 cloves
  11. To marinate
  12. 1/2 TSP turmeric
  13. half teaspoon salt
  14. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  15. For Curry
  16. 4 tbsp oil
  17. one big onion finely chopped or sliced
  18. half cup tomato chopped
  19. 2 teaspoon tamarind paste
  20. salt to taste
  21. 1 cup coconut milk
  22. 2 cups water
  23. 2-3 green chillies chopped

Instructions

  1. DRY ROAST SPICES ON LOW HEAT FOR 2 MINUTES
  2. GRIND ROASTED SPICES WITH COCONUT AND LITTLE WATER TO FORM SMOOTH PASTE
  3. MARINATE PRAWNS WITH SALT, TURMERIC AND LEMON JUICE FOR 15 MINUTES
  4. HEAT 2 TBSP OIL AND FRY PRAWNS FOR 2 MINUTES. KEEP IT ASIDE
  5. IN SAME PAN, HEAT 2 TBSP OIL, SAUTE ONIONS AND GREEN CHILLIES UNTIL ONIONS ARE TRANSLUCENT
  6. ADD TOMATOES AND SAUTE FOR 3 MINUTES
  7. ADD SALT, TAMARIND PASTE, 1/2 CUP WATER AND GROUND PASTE. MIX WELL. SAUTE AND COOK FOR 6 MINUTES
  8. ADD WATER AND PRAWNS. SIMMER AND COOK FOR 3 MINUTES
  9. ADD COCONUT MILK AND GIVE IT A STIR. SWITCH OFF. COVER AND REST FOR 15-20 MINUTES
  10. GARNISH WITH CORIANDER LEAVES AND SERVE HOT WITH RICE
