Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For pressure cooking the dal.
  2. 1 cup tuvar dal
  3. 2 cups water
  4. For dal fry.
  5. 1 large onion finely chopped
  6. 1 large Tomato finely chopped
  7. 4 green chillies
  8. 20 curry leaves
  9. 6 garlic finely chopped
  10. 1 tsp mustard
  11. 1tbsp oil / ghee
  12. A pinch of Hing
  13. Salt as required
  14. 2 tbsp of Coriander for garnish
  15. For Rice
  16. Cooked 1 cup of rice.
  17. For tempering Jeera rice
  18. 1 tbsp of ghee & ghee
  19. 1tsp jeera
  20. 1 medium onion finely chopped
  21. 2 green chillies
  22. 2 tej patta [bay leaf]
  23. 2 cloves
  24. 8 Almond
  25. Salt as required
  26. 2 tbsp chopped Coriander for garnish.

Instructions

  1. FOR PRESSURE COOKING THE DAL.1 CUP TUVAR DAL & 2 CUPS WATER, A PINCH OF TURMERIC .FOR 15 MINS.
  2. IN A PAN HEAT OIL.
  3. ADD MUSTARD & LET THEM SPLUTTER.ADD GARLIC.
  4. ADD CHILLIES & CURRY LEAVES.
  5. ADD TOMATO & COOK TILL THEY SOFTEN.
  6. ADD ONION & COOK TILL THEY SOFTEN.
  7. ADD SALT , TURMERIC POWDER.
  8. ADD PINCH OF HING / ASAFOETIDA. STIR WELL.
  9. NOW ADD MASHED DAL .STIR WELL.
  10. ADD GHEE.
  11. NOW GARNISH CHOPPED CORIANDER.SIMMER THE DAL FOR 5 MINS.
  12. FOR TEMPERING JEERA RICE.
  13. HEAT PAN & ADD OIL & GHEE.
  14. ADD JEERA.LET THEM SPLUTTER.
  15. ADD CHILLIES,CURRY LEAVES.
  16. ADD TEJ PATTA , CLOVES.STIR WELL.ADD ONION.
  17. STIR WELL.
  18. ADD CHOPPED ALMOND.
  19. NOW ADD COOKED RICE .MIX WELL.
  20. GARNISH WITH CHOPPED CORIANDER.
