ABOUT Shahi matar makhana RECIPE

Makhanas or foxnuts are dried lotus seeds which are rich in fiber proteins and carbohydrates. My mom used to make its delicious gravy veggy and i had learnt it from her before my marriage only..As i live in Bonn Germany i never found these foxnuts here and always craved for this this..Here i am writing the recipe of my moms shahi matar makhana gravy dish

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Makanas 100g
  2. Peas 40 g
  3. Cashews 40 g
  4. Milk full cream 100 ml
  5. Tomato 4
  6. Ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  7. Bay leaf one
  8. Salt .as per taste
  9. Kashmiri mirch 1 table spoon
  10. Turmeric powder 1 teasoon
  11. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  12. Kasoori methi 20g
  13. Desi ghee .2 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Dry roast makhanas..keep it aside
  2. Soak cashews in warm water ..for few minutes which would be added later while blending a tomato paste.
  3. Blend tomatoes cashews in a blender
  4. Now in a wok add desi ghee heat it and pour this paste ..start roasting it .
  5. Add all the spices and salt ..once sauted completely allow it to cool and blend it again by adding milk into it
  6. Siimmer it for few minutes and add peas into it
  7. I have taken preboiled peas..
  8. Now add preroasted makanas in it .
  9. Let the gravy and the flavour of the spices get infused in the makhanas ..
  10. Add kasoori methi
  11. Add water and adjust it's consistency ..let it simmer for sometimes .
  12. Your yummy shahi makhanas are ready .Garnish with preoasted cashews and also with coriander leaves
  13. Serve the dish with laccha paranthas or rice
