  5. 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  6. 3 green chillies, finely chopped
  7. 4 garlic cloves, grated or chopped finely
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  10. 1/4 cup corn flour
  11. 1/4 cup all purpose flour/maida
  12. Oil for deep frying
  13. For the gravy:
  14. 1/4 cup sliced onions
  15. 1/4 cup sliced bell pepper/capsicum
  16. 1 green chilli, slit
  17. 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  18. 2 tbsp each spring onion, whites and greens sliced
  19. 1 tbsp soya sauce
  20. 1 tsp vinegar
  21. 2 tsp tomato ketchup
  22. Salt to taste
  23. 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  24. 1 tbsp corn starch diluted in 1/2 cup water
  25. 1 tbsp Green/Red chilli sauce
  26. 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. First mix everything mentioned in the dumplings ingredient list except the oil. Mix it well with your hands and check if you're able to form a dumpling or not, if the mixture is still wet, add a tbsp each of corn flour and maida. Knead and try to form a dumpling again, if it forms a ball without falling apart the texture is perfect.
  2. Now roll out all the dumplings. Meanwhile start heating up the oil for frying in a pan or kadai. Once all rolled out, keep them aside.
  3. Check the oil, once hot add just enough dumplings and fry until golden. Fry them until nice and golden, drain them on to a paper towel and set aside until the gravy is done.
  4. For the gravy part:
  5. Heat a pan with oil, once hot add the garlic and green chilli, fry for a minute or two. Now add the sliced onion and bell pepper, fry these for a minute as well.
  6. Next add in the sauces, vinegar, salt, pepper and stir well. Later add the corn starch diluted in water. Stir well and immediately add the fried dumplings.
  7. Stir well, lower the heat and cover with a lid. After few minutes, remove the lid and stir well. Turn off the heat and garnish with sliced greens and whites.
  8. Now this yummilicious chinese delicacy is all ready to dig in. Serve it with fried rice or noddles or just jeera rice. Equally appetizing with just ketchup as well.
