My mom's fish curry is the best in our entire family, sharing one of her recipe here, I always used to drool over her fish recipe, tastes best with steamed rice

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500g sea fish pieces
  2. 1 raw mango peeled, cored and sliced
  3. 2 tbsp+1 tsp coconut oil
  4. 2 sprig curry leaves
  5. 1 inch ginger grated
  6. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  7. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  8. 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  9. 1-2 green chillies slit
  10. 1 small tomato finely chopped
  11. 8-10 shallots chopped
  12. 1/2 tsp turmeric
  13. 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  14. 1 tsp coriander powder
  15. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Grind coconut with little water to form paste, keep it aside
  2. Heat oil in earthen vessel, splutter mustard seeds,add fenugreek seeds, allow to change colour
  3. Add ginger, green chillies, curry leaves and saute for few seconds
  4. Add shallots and saute until it's soft. Add tomato and saute for few seconds Mix all spice powders with 1/4 cup water . Add spice water to shallots with salt
  5. Saute until tomatoes turn soft. Add sliced raw mango with 1 cup water. Bring to boil. Add ground coconut paste with 1/2 cup water and mix well. The tangy flavour of curry depends on sourness of raw mango
  6. Add fish pieces and gently mix. Simmer and cook for 10-12 minutes. Drizzle 1 tsp coconut oil. Switch off. Leave it aside for 15 minutes to allow the flavour to set in well. Serve hot with rice
