ABOUT Aloo diye Shojne Data Chorchori (Potato Drumstick Curry - Bengali Style) RECIPE

Here is yet another traditional Bengali homemade style drumstick chorchori / curry cooked with potatoes. Mustard paste is added to the end product. Poppy seeds paste and fresh coconut paste too can be added to enhance the flavour. It is generally relished with plain steamed rice.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 4-5 drumstick, cut into 2" lengthwise
  2. 1-2 potatoes, cut lengthwise
  3. 2 tbsp. mustard oil
  4. 1 tsp. nigella seeds
  5. 1 onion, chopped
  6. 2 tsp. mustard seeds
  7. 2 green chilies
  8. salt to taste
  9. 1/2 tsp;. turmeric powder
  10. coriander leaves to garnish

Instructions

  1. Grind the mustard seeds and the green chilies into a fine paste. Keep aside. Heat oil in a pan and temper with kalonji. Saute for a few seconds.
  2. Add onion and fry till light brown. Then add the potatoes and the drumstick. Fry till the potatoes turns slightly golden colour.
  3. Add salt, turmeric powder and 1 cup water. Cover and simmer on a low flame till it turns soft.
  4. When done, add the mustard paste and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with plain steamed rice.
