Shahi tukda is one of the most popular indian dessert.It is most popular in hyderabadi dessert.with a small twist in it.Shahi Tukra(Tukda) means Royal(Shahi) Piece(Tukda) and I believe it really is a royal piece of sweet treat that melts into your mouth with such an awesome taste. It is believed to be part of Mughlai Cuisine and is a simple dessert.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 10 slices of white bread
  2. 3 to 4 tbsp ghee +Oil for frying bread
  3. Dry fruits (Almond,pistachios,cashew and raisins)
  4. 3/4 cup sugar
  5. 1 Cup water
  6. 1 tsp Lemon juice
  7. 3 Cups Milk
  8. 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  9. A pinch of saffron
  10. 2 to 3 tbsp sugar
  11. Dark choco chips or chocolate
  12. walnuts 10(chopped)
  13. kaju 10(chopped)
  14. pistachio 10(chopped)
  15. badam 10(chopped)

Instructions

  1. Remove the sides of the bread and cut it into desired shape and keep it aside.
  2. Now melt the dark chocolate after melting add the chopped dry fruits and keep a side
  3. Melt the sugar and water and let it boil for few more minutes until it’s slightly thick ,add lemon juice.Add a pinch of cardamom in it and keep it aside
  4. In another pan reduce the milk to half the volume add saffron and cardamom,Add sugar and mix well.Switch off the flame when you get a thick creamy rabri
  5. In a large pan and add ghee and heat it meanwhile
  6. take the cut bread and soak it in water for 8 seconds and keep the stuffing and cover it with another bread slice and deep fry them in ghee until it is golden brown
  7. .Now add them into the sugar syrup and take out them from sugar syrup
  8. .Arrange them in a serving platter and pour the rabri over it to soak the bread.Sprinkle the dry fruits and serve
