Pearl spot is a fish which all fish lovers crave for when they visit Kerala. This fish is fried in homemade virgin coconut oil(oil which is made by boiling coconut milk).It adds a unique flavour and aroma to this fish fry

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Pearl spot fish 2 large sized
  2. Ginger garlic paste 1 table spoon
  3. Crushed Pepper 1 tea spoon
  4. Roasted cumin powder 1 tea spoon
  5. Crushed red chillies 1 tea spoon
  6. Shallots 5 nos
  7. Curry leaves 2 sprigs
  8. salt as per taste
  9. turmeric powder 1tea spoon
  10. Koku/Kudampuli 2 soaked in hot water
  11. Virgin coconut oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Grind all the ingredients into a fine paste with the Kudampuli/koku water
  2. Marinate the cleaned fishes with the Masala paste and keep aside for one hour
  3. Heat virgin coconut oil in a kadai and put a sprig of curry leaf in it. Deep fry the fish one by one in medium heat.
  4. Serve it hot with onion rings and lemon wedges
