ABOUT Aloo chop RECIPE

This is a typical bengali snack, spicy potato filling, dipped in batter and deep fried.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the stuffing :
  2. Mashed and boiled potatoes - 2
  3. Chopped garlic - 1 tsp
  4. Chopped ginger - 1 tsp
  5. Green chillies (chopped) - 1 tbsp
  6. Roasted cumin and coriander seeds powder - 2 tbsp
  7. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  8. Salt
  9. Refined oil
  10. Outer coating :
  11. Besan - 1 cup
  12. Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  13. Salt
  14. Soda bi carbonate - 1/8 th tsp
  15. Chilly powder - 1/4 th tsp
  16. Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. To make the filling, heat some oil in a pan, add chopped garlic, ginger and chillies. Once they smell, add turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Now add the mashed potatoes, give a good mix. Add the roasted cumin and coriander seeds powder.
  3. Cook until the masala is done and dry. Cool it.
  4. Mix the ingredients mentioned under "outer coating", and some water to make a smooth batter.
  5. Now heat ample amount of oil in a kadhai. Shape the potato fìlling into thin patties, dip them in the batter and deep fry them. Serve.
