ABOUT Chettinad Chicken RECIPE

Being here in South India for few years, loved their recipes. This recipe is an easy version gravy recipe of chicken Chettinad. A spicy yummy chicken gravy that best goes with plain rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken 1/2 kg
  2. 2 tablespoon of yogurt
  3. 1/2 tablespoon of salt
  4. 1/2 tablespoon of turmeric powder
  5. 5-6 tablespoon oil
  6. curry leaves 8-10
  7. 3-4 tablespoon of grated coconut
  8. 1/2 tablespoon of mustard seeds
  9. 1 onion sliced
  10. 1 onion,1 inch ginger and 7-8 pods of garlic paste together
  11. 1 tablespoon of red chilli powder
  12. 1/2 tablespoon of black pepper powder
  13. 2 tablespoon of chopped coriander leaves
  14. 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken with yoghurt, 1/2 tablespoon of salt, red chilli powder, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and turmeric powder for 30 minutes
  2. Heat oil and temper mustard seeds then curry leaves and sliced onions
  3. Add the marinated chicken and sauté it nicely along with the onion and ginger garlic paste for 5 minutes
  4. Add the grated coconut, green chilli and 2-3 cups of water. Boil covering with a lid till cooked and the water reduces to gravy.
  5. Add chopped coriander leaves and black pepper. Stir well and off the flame.
  6. Let it rest for a minute and serve hot, spicy, full of aroma, an easy and quick Chettinad Chicken
