ABOUT Shukto RECIPE

Shukto is a traditional bengali dish, bongs have it as part of their lunch with rice.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Bitter gourd 1.
  2. White radish 1 (1 inch cubes ).
  3. Sweet potatoes 1 (1 inch cube ).
  4. Potato 1 (1 inch cube ).
  5. Eggplant 1 (1 inch cube ).
  6. Drumstick 1 cup.
  7. Raw Papaya 1 (1 inch cube).
  8. Plantain 1( 1 inch cube ).
  9. Lentil dumplings 1 cup.
  10. Ginger paste 1 tsp.
  11. Milk 4 tbsp.
  12. Radhuni 1 tsp.
  13. Bay leaf 1.
  14. Dry red chilli 1.
  15. Ghee 2 tbsp.
  16. Refined oil 8 tbsp.
  17. Salt & sugar as needed.

Instructions

  1. Fry the lentil dumplings & keep aside.
  2. Heat oil & add the ginger paste along with sugar ,salt , red chilli , Radhuni & bay leaf .
  3. Stir it.
  4. Add the vegetables & saute in the mixture
  5. Add a cup of water & cook for 10 minutes on medium heat.
  6. Add milk & lentil dumplings in it & cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Turn off the flame .
  8. Add ghee .
  9. Serve hot with steamed rice.
