ABOUT Jhaal Muri RECIPE

Jhaal muri is quite a famous street food of Kolkata, this spicy puffed rice is the most favourite street snack of many especially among the Bengalis. This street food is very much like bhel, an another popular mumbai street food.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 4cups Puffed rice
  2. 1/4cup Sev
  3. 1/4cup Roasted peanuts
  4. 1/2cup Boiled potatoes (boiled & cut as small pieces)
  5. 1/2cup Tomato (finely chopped)
  6. 1/2cup Cucumber (chopped finely)
  7. 2tbsp Green chutney
  8. 1/4cup Tamarind paste
  9. 4tsp Mustard oil
  10. Spicemix:
  11. 4tsp Roasted cumin seeds powder
  12. 1tsp Salt
  13. 1tsp Black salt
  14. 1tsp Mango powder
  15. 1tsp Red chilly powder
  16. 1/2tsp Garam masala powder

Instructions

  1. Combine all the dry spices together. Set aside. Dry roast the puffed rice on slow flame for about 3 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Before serving, add the peanuts, sev, tomato, potato, cucumber, tamarind paste,green chutney, mustard oil and enough spice mix to the roasted puffed rice. Toss them and serve immediately.

Low calorie Tasty and Quick food. To be consumed immediately. A dash of mango pickle may be added to spritz it up.
