Ingredients: 1 cup toor dal (arhar); 1 tomato chopped; 2 to 3 green chillies; 1 tsp turmeric powder; 1 tsp red chilli powder; 1 tsp coriander powder; 1 tsp sabji masala powder; Salt to taste; For dhokli; 1/2 cup atta; 2 tbsp besan; 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder and red chilli powder; Salt to taste; 1/2 tsp sesame seeds; 1/2 tsp ajwain; For tadka; 1 tsp mustard seeds and cumin seeds; 2 dried red chilli; 1 spring curry leaves

ABOUT Dal Dhokli RECIPE

Regional recipe from the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Ingredients Serving: 4

1 cup toor dal (arhar)
1 tomato chopped
2 to 3 green chillies
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp sabji masala powder
Salt to taste
For dhokli
1/2 cup atta
2 tbsp besan
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder and red chilli powder
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp sesame seeds
1/2 tsp ajwain
For tadka
1 tsp mustard seeds and cumin seeds
2 dried red chilli
1 spring curry leaves

Instructions

Cook the dal with the ingredients listed under Dal. Keep aside.
Knead dough of the Dhokli ingredients. Keep aside.
Open the cooker and add 1 1/2 cup water into the cooked dal. Let simmer.
Roll out chapati out of the dhokli dough. Cut lengthwise and then diagonally into squares.
Boil water in a pan. Add the dhoklis into boiled water and cook for 15 min. Drain water.
Now put the cooked dhoklis into the simmering dal. Cook together for 5 min.
Take out in a serving dish. Prepare the tadka. Heat oil. Add hing, cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Add dried red chilli and curry leaves.
Pour over the dal dhokli. Serve hot.
