ABOUT Wheat flour upma RECIPE

This whole some breakfast recipe rewinds me to my childhood days at Nani house as this recipe comes from her kitchen. We used to call it 'namkeen halwa '. When I googled to get it's name found similar but not same recipe in maharashtrian cuisine named 'Ukadpendi'.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole Wheat Flour 1 cup
  2. Water 2 cup
  3. Salt 1 tesp
  4. Ghee 2 Tbsp
  5. Carrom seeds 1/2 tesp
  6. Asafoetida a pinch
  7. Whole red chilies 2
  8. Onion 1
  9. Tomato 1/2
  10. Green Coriander leaves 1 tbsp
  11. Lemon juice 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Sizzle Carrom seeds, Asafoetida and whole red chillies in ghee.
  2. Add wheat flour and roast till nice aroma spreads out.
  3. Add boiled water and salt and cook stiring continuously till thickens.
  4. Remove to a serving dish.
  5. Top with finely chopped onion, tomato and green coriander leaves.
  6. Sprinkle lemon juice over it and serve hot.
