ABOUT Restaurant Style Maida Punugulu/Maida Bonda (Mysore Bonda) RECIPE

These are actual restaurant style mysore bondas that are available in almost all the popular restaurants of Karnataka State. These are different from Ulundu Bondas of Chennai or Punugulu of Andhra which are both made of urad dal and not maida. Crispy outer with a soft inside, this is what a maida bonda or mysore bonda is and they go perfectly well with coconut chutney alongside. Happy Frying Folks !!!!!!!!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Maida 1 1/2 cups
  2. Rice flour 1/2 cup
  3. Salt 1 tsp
  4. Ginger mince 1 tbsp
  5. Green chillies chopped 3
  6. Onion small chopped 1
  7. Baking soda 1/2 tsp
  8. Coriander leaves chopped 1/4th cup
  9. Sour curd 1 cup
  10. Water 1/2 cup
  11. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  12. Coconut pieces 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Make a thick batter using all the ingredients.
  2. Set it aside for 15 minutes or so.
  3. Heat enough oil for frying in a kadai.
  4. Drop small balls of equal size either with hands or with the help of a spoon.
  5. Wet your hands a little before doing it.
  6. Deep fry them in batches usually on a low to medium flame but remember that the oil should be sizzling hot.
  7. Cook them well on both the sides until golden in colour.
  8. Serve them hot with coconut chutney.
  9. Crispy maida bondas, restaurant style are ready to be gulped down.
