ABOUT Dal Moghlai RECIPE

Serve this dal with steamed rice for a whole some and zero cholesterol meal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Arhar 3/4cup
  2. Chana dal 1/4 cup
  3. Lauki diced 2 cups
  4. Tomatoes chopped. 1cup
  5. Turmeric 1/4 Tsp
  6. Cumin seeds 1Tsp
  7. Red chili powder 1Tsp
  8. Garam masala 1/2 Tsp
  9. Coriander powder 2Tsp
  10. Garlic chopped 1/2Tsp
  11. Grated ginger 1Tsp
  12. Sliced onion. 1Medium
  13. Oil. 2Tsp
  14. Salt as per taste.
  15. Chopped coriander. 2Tbsp
  16. Water 3cups+1cup

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the dal for 30 minutes.
  2. Add lauki, tomatoes, turmeric powder,salt and 3 cups of water .
  3. Pressure cook for 2 whistles and then simmer on low flame for 10 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds.
  5. When seeds splutter add garlic,ginger and onions.
  6. Saute till onion turns translucent.
  7. Add in dry Spices and saute for few seconds.
  8. Add the cooked dal and 1 cup of water .
  9. Bring to boil.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Serve hot with steam rice or chapati.
