ABOUT Vermicelli Upma RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Vermicelli (Roasted) 2 cups
  2. Refined Oil 2 tablespoon
  3. Black Mustard Seeds 1 teaspoon
  4. Green chillies 2
  5. Curry leaves 10
  6. Carrots (chopped) 1/2 Cup
  7. Onion (sliced) 1/2 Cup
  8. Capsicum (chopped) 1/2 Cup
  9. Green Peas 1/2 Cup
  10. Lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon
  13. Turmeric powder 1/3 teaspoon
  14. Black pepper powder 1/3 teaspoon
  15. Almond (roasted) 10-12
  16. Cashew (roasted) 10-12
  17. Peanuts (roasted) 1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Roast the vermicelli for 3-4 minutes in a Wok or a Kadai until slightly golden. Transfer to a plate and keep aside.
  2. Now heat oil in the same kadai and add mustard seeds. Let them crackle for a minute and add the chillies and curry leaves. Saute for 1-2 minutes and add the onions. Mix it well.
  3. Add turmeric powder and salt, and saute for 1-2 minutes. Then add the vegetables and stir well. Allow them to cook for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add 2 1/2 cups of water, and bring to boil. Add the vermicelli and mix well. Cover the kadai with a lid and let it cook for 5-6 minutes or until the vermicelli is cooked and the water is dried up
  5. Transfer to a serving bowl and finish with roasted peanuts, Almond and Cashew on top and a fresh green chilli Chutney. Serve it hot.
