The millet adai is nutritious an healthy way to start a day with great amounts of protein and calcium. The goodness of ghee and gur in the sweet adai enriches ur iron content.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Sweet version
  2. Ragi flour 1 cup
  3. Jaggery 1/2 cup
  4. Grated coconut 4 tsp
  5. Cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
  6. Ghee/oil to cook
  7. A pinch of salt
  8. Savory version
  9. Ragi flour 1cup
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Finely chopped onion 1
  12. Red /green chillies chopped 3
  13. Oil to cook

Instructions

  1. Sweet adai Melt the jaggery by adding a 3-4tsp of water.
  2. Filter the melted jaggery. To it add coconut, cardamom powder,ragi flour and a pinch of salt. Make balls of the prepared dough.
  3. Take an oiled plastic sheet or banana leaf and flatten the roundels with ur fingers into a round shape.
  4. Heat a tava and cook the adai in medium flame using ghee.
  5. Savory adai Combine the flour, onion, chillies and salt into a dough using water.
  6. Flatten the balls as said above and cook in tava medium flame.
