ABOUT Rava Pongal RECIPE

Rava Pongal is a famous south indian breakfast. It is a melt-in-the-mouth recipe with dollop of ghee that makes it perfect treat for your taste buds.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Rava 1/2 cup
  2. Moong daal 1/4 cup
  3. Water 3 cups
  4. Ginger (chopped) 1 teaspoon
  5. Green chilli (chopped) 1 teaspoon
  6. Green chilli (slit into half) 2
  7. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  8. Hing 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Black peppercorns 8-10
  10. Salt (to taste)
  11. Curry leaves 8-10
  12. Cashewnuts 7-8
  13. Ghee 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the dal till fragrant. Wash it and keep aside.
  2. Dry roast rava and keep aside.
  3. In a pressure cooker, add rava, dal, ginger, chopped green chilli and salt. Add water.
  4. Pressure cook for around 7-8 minutes.
  5. When cooked, mash it for creamy texture, with the back of ladle.
  6. Now, we will prepare tadka.
  7. In a pan, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds, hing, peppercorns, curry leaves and slit green chilli.
  8. Add cashewnuts and let them turn golden brown.
  9. Pour tadka over rava dal mix.
  10. Serve hot!
