ABOUT Gram Flour Coconut Burfi/ Besan Nariyal Burfi.. RECIPE

A famous North Indian fudge that is made with gram flour and coconut. Dry coconut powder also can be used in place of fresh one. Easy to make and is loved by many including the kids. The aroma of ghee roasted gram flour and coconut makes it a heavenly treat. The taste lingers on long after it was eaten. This is the spell bound magic of Indian Sweets. Happy Roasting !!!!!!!!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Gram flour or besan 2 cups
  2. Ghee 1/2 cup
  3. Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  4. Almonds slivered 1/4th cup
  5. Sugar 3/4th cup
  6. Water 3/4th cup
  7. Coconut freshly grated 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed kadai.
  2. Add gram flour to it and roast well.
  3. Keep stirring and roast until golden brown in colour.
  4. The raw smell should be completely gone.
  5. Now add the cardamom powder and the grated coconut to it.
  6. Continue roasting it until ghee starts floating on top.
  7. Meanwhile add sugar and water to a pan.
  8. Heat until it becomes a thick syrup.
  9. No need for a string consistency here.
  10. Add this thick syrup to the gram flour coconut mix.
  11. Mix it well and pour it in a greased square dish.
  12. Garnish with toasted almonds and make cuts in the burfee while still warm.
  13. Leave it for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  14. Relish these for more than a week after every meal.
  15. These stay good even at room temperature.
