ABOUT Rava Idlis/Sooji Idlis/Semolina Idlis... RECIPE

A perfect breakfast option for the elderly. It adorns many a dining tables in many homes at breakfast. This popular version of instant idlis are a superhit mainly because of the time factor and also due to semolina which is damn healthy. Lovely looking tasty idlis that are done in just a few minutes and are extremely light on stomach.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Rava or semolina 2 cups
  2. Sour curd thick one 3/4th cup
  3. Salt 1 tsp
  4. Grated ginger 1 tbsp
  5. oil 2 tbsp
  6. Green chillies chopped 2 tbsp
  7. Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp
  8. Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
  9. Curry leaves torn into bits 1/4th cup
  10. Cashewnuts shallow fried 1/4th cup
  11. Eno fruit salt 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Make a thick batter with curd and semolina.
  2. Add salt to it.
  3. In a pan, heat oil and crackle some mustard seeds.
  4. Add curry leaves and green chillies next.
  5. Followed by grated ginger and coriander leaves.
  6. Mix well and add this tempering to the idli batter.
  7. Mix well and set aside.
  8. In a vessel, heat about 2 to 3 cups of water.
  9. Grease the idli plates, place a fried cashew on each.
  10. Add the eno fruit salt just before steaming the idlis.
  11. Give a light stir and add a ladleful of batter in each depression of the idli plate.
  12. Steam these for about 18 to 20 minutes on high heat.
  13. Do not open the lid immediately.
  14. Take some time to take them out from the plates.
  15. Serve them hot with peanut chutney or coconut chutney for a healthy wholesome breakfast.
