ABOUT Fish in Garlic and green masala gravy RECIPE

Authentic dish from Sindhi cuisine, very quick and easy to make and loved by my family. This recipe I learnt from my Mother.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Surmai fish 8 pieces cut into thick pcs, cleaned. Apply some salt for an hour and wash again
  2. Hara dhania/ coriander leaves 1 bunch
  3. Spring Onion Green Part (optional & depends on season of availability)
  4. 1 small onion or spring onion (white part)
  5. Garlic flakes 8 to10
  6. Green chilli +a piece of ginger
  7. Salt 1 tsp
  8. coriander powder 1 tsp
  9. Tomatoes- 2 , pureed
  10. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  11. Lalmirchi powder 1 tsp
  12. 2 tsp oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixer jar add hara dhania(coriander), green part of spring onions, lasun flakes.Grind coarsely. In a pan put oil. Add above mentioned hara dhania paste. Saute nicely. Add salt haldi dhania powder lalmirch powder. Saute till oil starts to come out. Now add pureed tomatoes. Mix well.
  2. Add cleaned and washed fish pieces. Cover fish with green masala paste. cover & cook for abt five minutes. Then add little water to make gravy. You can adjust quantity of water according to your need. If u wish to eat with chapatis then keep gravy thick. Fish tastes yum with yellow methi pulao. Then keep gravy little watery.
  3. Cover and cook for abt 10 minutes. In between gently turn fish upside down to cook on both sides properly. Fish does not take more time to cook. Enjoy with chapati or Pulao.

not mentioned about spring onions green part in the receipe when to use it. should grind with coriender leaves. pl suggest
