ABOUT Spicy Bajra Khichdi RECIPE

Delicious spicy desi food from my kitchen. This one is winter special dish which are made from green and dry masala. Made from bajra and moong daal and served with masala dahi and pickle.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Bajra 1 bowl
  2. Moong daal 1/2 bowl
  3. Water 2 glass
  4. Salt 2 tsp or as your taste
  5. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  6. for Tadka :-
  7. Ghee 4 tbs
  8. Dry Bay leaves 3
  9. Cloves 4
  10. Cinnamon 3 piece
  11. Jeera 1 tsp
  12. Rai 1/2 tsp
  13. Hing 1/2 tsp
  14. Green garlic chopped 1 cup
  15. Crushed ginger and green chilli 1 tbsp
  16. Coriander leaves chopped 1/2 cup
  17. Kashmiri Red Chilli powder 1 tbsp
  18. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  19. Water 1 glass

Instructions

  1. Wash bajra add water then soak for overnight.
  2. Now wash moong daal and soak for 10 minute.
  3. Drain extra water from bajra and moong daal.
  4. Add bajra and moong daal in cooker.
  5. Add salt , turmeric powder and water.
  6. Give 5 whistle then leave on room temperature.
  7. For tadka take a large kadai add ghee for simmer.
  8. Add bay leaves, cloves and cinnamon.
  9. Add jeera and rai for tempering.
  10. Add crushed ginger and chilli mixture then add hing.
  11. Add green garlic and saute for 3 to 4 minute.
  12. Add cooked mixture of bajra and daal.
  13. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
  14. Now lid the kadai and cook for next 30 to 35 minute on slow flame.
  15. Keep stirring the mixture in-between.
  16. Check the seasoning about salt.
  17. When mixture become thick switch off the flame.
  18. Add coriander leaves and mix well.
  19. Leave for 10 minute then serve with masala dahi and pickle.
