It is one of the traditional recipes among Mangalore Jain community. Red chilly is the key ingredient in this recipe. It is spicy , mildly sweet as well as tangy. It can be served as a dip or thick sauce. I learnt this recipe from our family friend Jain aunt.

Add one tea spoon of oil to frying pan and fry the chillies.
Take a mixie jar, grind together Chilly, tamarind , salt and garlic first.
Add little water. Then add jaggery and grind smoothly to a paste.
In a frying pan, add remaining oil, ground paste and boil for about 6-8 minutes.
Finger licking chutney is ready.
Store in dry glass container.
It will stay good for 15-20 days.
