ABOUT Whole wheat chakli RECIPE

A gujrati dish but with only wheat flour..its crispy and mouth melting..

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Wheat flour 1/2 kg
  2. Oil for cooking and kneading as required
  3. Sesame seeds 1 tsp
  4. Carom seeds 1/2 tsp
  5. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  6. Sugar pwd 1/2 tsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Green Chilli paste 1 tsp
  9. Ginger Paste 1 Tsp
  10. Curd 1 tsp
  11. Asaefotida 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. Put wheat flour on a muslin cloth and tie it nicely and tightly (potli form).
  2. Now keeping a stand in cooker fill a glass of water in cooker and place the potli on a small plate in cooker.
  3. Close the lid of the cooker taking the whistle off and steam the wheat flour for 20 mins.
  4. After the flour is steamed take out from the cooker and remove the cloth from it.
  5. The flour will be hard as a stone, so make it back in the form of flour ( you can use mixer also for making wheat flour back in pwd form)
  6. Then add all the ingredients in the steamed flour and 1 tbsp of warm oil.
  7. Knead well with warm water too.
  8. The dough for chakli should be neither soft nor hard.
  9. Keep it in a rest for 30 mins.
  10. Take the chakli machine and grease it from inside.
  11. Now take the dough and fill the chakli machine.
  12. Make chaklis on a paper.
  13. Heat oil in a deep pan (kadhai) for frying chakli
  14. The flame should be high when you put chakli in oil.
  15. fry the chaklis till it turns out red in color.
  16. Enjoy the yummy and crispy soft chaklis anytime anywhere :blush:
