Bitter gourd with pulses

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bitter gourd 2
  2. Soaked Black channa dal 1/2 cup
  3. Tuvr dal 1/4 cup
  4. Tamarind lemon size
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Turmeric Powder 1/4 teaspoon
  7. Curry leaves 2 sprigs
  8. Coriander leaves 1 fistful
  9. Hing 1/4 teaspoon
  10. For paste 2 tablespoon channa dal
  11. Coriander Seeds 2 tablespoon
  12. Methi little
  13. Jeera 1/4 teaspoon
  14. Red chillies 6
  15. Coconut 2 tablespoon
  16. For seasoning oil
  17. Mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  18. Jeera 1/4 teaspoon
  19. Methi

Instructions

  1. Soak Tamarind
  2. Soak black Channa dal overnight and cook Channa dal. You can also use ground nut or besan dal.
  3. Pressure cook 1/2 cup Tuvr dal
  4. Heat oil. Gently roast 2 tbsp Channa dal, 2 tbsp coriander seeds, 6 red chillies, little bit methi and jeera. Cool the mixture
  5. Add coconut and prepare a paste
  6. Heat oil. Add Mustard, methi, jeera and curry leaves.
  7. Add chopped bitter gourd. Saute well
  8. Now add cooked black Channa dal with stalk, salt and hing
  9. Add Tamarind extract and turmeric powder. Cook for 10 mins
  10. Now add grounded paste
  11. Add mashed Tuvr dal
  12. Add chopped coriander leaves
  13. Serve Pitlai with rice
