ABOUT Chicken Dak Bungalow RECIPE

Historically this curry is said to have been prepared in the dak bungalows or the resting houses of Calcutta where the British government officials rested during their hunting expedition or during a night stay on between journeys. Hence it is called as dak bunglow chicken

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500 gm. Chicken
  2. 4 medium onion sliced
  3. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  4. 2 tomatoes
  5. 4 green chillies
  6. 2 large potatoes cut in quarters
  7. 2 boiled eggs
  8. 4 cloves
  9. 2 black cardamom
  10. 4 green cardamom
  11. 1 stick cinamon
  12. 1/2 cup curd
  13. 8 pepper corns
  14. 1 tsp bengali garam masala
  15. 1 tsp haldi
  16. 2 tsp coriander powder
  17. 2 tsp freen chilli powder
  18. 1 bay leaf
  19. 2 dried red chillies

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the whole garam masala . Cool and put it in blender. Add ginger garlic paste, tomato and green chillies. Grind them together using little water into a fine paste
  2. Wash and pat dry the chicken. Marinate the chicken with.the half of the paste. And 2 tbsp mustard oil. For 4 hours or overnight. Keep.half paste aside.
  3. In a cooker heat 4tbsp oil. Fry potatoes and boiled eggs till outer skin is golden. Keep aside. In remaining oil Add bay leaf and dried red chillies. Add the onions . Fry till golden. Add the remaining paste kept aside. Cook for 2 to.3 min.
  4. Add the marinated chicken. Mix well. Add the curd. Mix.
  5. Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder. Salt and sugar. Mix well. Cook for 10 min on low heat. Till oil separates
  6. Add the fried potatoes and bangali garam masala. Mix and cook.for 5 more min..
  7. Add the fried.egss mix . Cover the cooker and cook. Till 4 whistles.
  8. Serve hot

Looks yumm. Wanted to know If pressure cooked with the eggs,wudnt the eggs break off ?
