Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 cup toor daal
  2. 2 tomatoes
  3. 1 Onion
  4. few curry leaves
  5. Few coriander leaves
  6. Channa dal 2 tsp
  7. Dhaniya [coriander seeds] 1 tsp
  8. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  9. Oil 2 tsp
  10. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  11. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  12. 2 dry red Chili's
  13. Pinch Hing

Instructions

  1. Firstly dry roast jeera, dhaniya, red Chili's and Channa dal
  2. Roast it till you get nice aroma
  3. Add the roasted ingredients in a blender
  4. Blend it to paste and keep aside
  5. wash and rinse the dal and put into a pressure cooker. Once the pressure releases from the cooker, whisk the dal 
  6. Meanwhile, chop onions, vegetables, tomotos, coriander leaves and chilli and keep them aside.
  7. In a pan, add 1 tsp of oil. Sizzle with mustard seeds and curry leaves. To the same pan add onions and fry them till golden brown.
  8. Add tomatoes and fry till it gets soft
  9. Add remaining vegetables and required water. cook for 5 mins
  10. Once vegetables are cooked add mashed dal. And seasoned with some salt.
  11. Add termeric powder and grounded paste
  12. Soak tamarind for 5 mins. Pour tamarind juice into sambar and let it boil for 5 mins
  13. Seasoned with coriander leaves and switch off the stove
