ABOUT CHICKEN MUSHROOM PIE RECIPE

A well-a everybody's heard about the bird !! For busy family cooks, chicken is the most sought after source of lean-protein which cooks fast, reliable and tastes great when paired with Mushroom. Chicken and Mushroom, a combination which can become so versatile that you can prepare a gamut of recipes with them. They complement each other perfectly ,like a marriage fixed in heaven.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. What You Need For Filling: 1 small onion chopped
  2. 1 small green chili chopped
  3. 1 tbsp chopped coriander or parsley
  4. 1 chicken breast or 1 cup boneless chicken
  5. 200 grams button mushrooms cut into medium size chunks
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1 tbsp butter
  8. 1 tbsp garlic chopped
  9. 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  10. 100 ml milk or cream
  11. 1 tbsp olive oil
  12. 1 tsp black pepper crushed
  13. What You Need For the Crust: 1 and half cup all-purpose flour
  14. 1/3rd cup butter
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Luke warm water to knead tight dough

Instructions

  1. Start with making the sauce or cream. Heat butter in a non-stick pan.
  2. Add all purpose flour and sauté it till a nice aroma comes out. This will take about a minute or so.
  3. Add milk to it and cook on simmer till milk turns thick. Add black pepper and mix well. Don’t add salt to the sauce at this moment.
  4. Next heat oil in a pan. Add onions, garlic, green chili and saute till onion turns pink.
  5. Add chicken cubes and saute till it turns white
  6. Add mushrooms and salt to taste.
  7. Let it simmer in low heat.
  8. Add the sauce made above and heat the filling till the sauce reduces considerably. We have a thick filling ready now. Switch off the flame and let it cool down completely.
  9. For the crust and filling, Add water little by little and knead strong tough dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  10. Take a tart tin.
  11. Take a big portion of dough and press it against the sides and bottom of pan. Prick with a fork at regular intervals.
  12. Fill the tart tray with mushroom and chicken filling made above.
  13. Take the remaining portion of the dough and roll to a thin sheet. Place above the filling and fill from all sides.
  14. Wash the top with egg white. Ornament with any pattern you like.
  15. Remove any extras. Bake in a pre-heated oven for 20 minutes at 180 degree centigrade.
  16. The Tart is ready to be enjoyed.
