Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2 cup rice flour
  2. 1/3 Cup Urad Dal ( white split ones )
  3. Green chilli - 3
  4. Curry leaves - few
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Water enough to make dough
  7. 4 tbsp Gingelly Oil

Instructions

  1. To prepare the Dough : Start boiling water ( 1 cup ). Add enough salt in water ( 1 tsp ). Add 1 tbsp oil as well
  2. When water reaches boiling point, switch off the stove.
  3. In a wide vessel , add the flour.
  4. Pour the hot water little by little and using a spatula mix the flour to make a dough.
  5. When the dough GTS almost ready, keep the saptula away, and start kneading by hand. Pour 2 tbsp oil, and keep the dough aside closed.
  6. To prepare the stuffing :
  7. Wash the Urad dal and drain off the water ( no need to soak ).
  8. Add the dal in blender along with green chillies and curry leaves. Blend coarsely.
  9. Season the coarsely ground portion using 1 tbsp oil for few minutes and allow to warm up.
  10. To prepare the Dumplings :
  11. Grease the hand and make balls of the dough. Flatten the dough in the palm, place the stuffing in he middle. Close the dough part, and make of your desired shape.
  12. Steam idli vessel, grease the idli plates and and place the shaped dumplings.
  13. Steam for 5 minutes.
  14. They are hot and spicy and would be very ideal to munch with hot tea / breakfast.
