ABOUT Narali bhaat(coconut rice) RECIPE

Traditional dish prepared on the auspicious day of narali purnima on the western coast of Maharashtra.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Cooked rice 2 cup
  2. Fresh grated coconut 1 cup
  3. Jaggery 1 1/2 cup
  4. Desi ghee 1 tbsp
  5. Chopped nuts and raisins 1/2 cup
  6. Cardamom powder 2 tsp
  7. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan.
  2. Add fresh coconut and saute for 1 minute.
  3. Add jaggery and saute till the jaggery melts
  4. Add chopped nuts and raisins
  5. Add salt to taste
  6. Add cooked rice and saute till the rice gets mixed with jaggery mixture
  7. Add cardamom powder
  8. Cover and cook for 2-3min on a low flame
  9. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve
