ABOUT BHAPA ILISH RECIPE

Bengal's favorite fish,Hilsa cooked with mustard-poppy seeds-ripe green chiily paste along with curd and loads of mustard oil.Hence it's a party recipe,to curtle down in cooking time i used microwave to cook it.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Hilsa ring fishes 5 apprx 500 gms
  2. 120gms white mustard seeds
  3. 30 gms poppy seeds
  4. 100 gms curd
  5. Ginger Paste 1 tspn
  6. Turmeric powder 1 tspn
  7. green chillies(red/ripe) 8
  8. lime juice 1 tblspn
  9. mustard oil 50 gms
  10. Salt

Instructions

  1. wash & clean the fish pieces,apply lime juice,turmeric(half of the quantity) , salt. keep aside for 10 min
  2. grind the mustard seeds,poppy seeds,chillies,salt,turmeric,ginger,oil altogether.
  3. keep the paste in a microsafe bowl,coat the fishes with this mixture
  4. cook this in microwave 5 min in full power without lid
  5. now allow the fish pieces to cool.
  6. remove marinade from it,carefully so that the fish pieces wouldn't be broken
  7. add curd and again some mustard oil in this marinade whisk it,add little more salt and slited green chilles
  8. pour this into the fish pieces and cover with a lid
  9. cooked in microwave for 3 min(or till done)
  10. serve with hot steamed long grain rice
