ABOUT Bhindi Masala RECIPE

This is an easy and tasty veg dish for a busy day and those who don't like veg dishes will surely love this. This is one of my hubby's favourite veg dish. This has a nice aroma of kasuri methi.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1/2kg bhindi/okra/lady's finger
  2. 2 medium onions
  3. 1 large Tomato
  4. 5 cloves Garlic
  5. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  6. 1 medium piece Ginger
  7. 1 tsp Red chilly powder or more as requirement
  8. 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  9. 1/2 tsp Garam Masala powder
  10. 1/2 tsp Cummin seeds
  11. 1/2 tsp Kasuri methi
  12. Coriander leaves a few
  13. Salt as per taste
  14. Oil as required

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the bhindis. Cut into 1 inch sized pieces. Heat some oil in a kadai and deep fry this bhindis till slightly crispy. Drain out the excess oil. In another kadai pour 2 tbsp of oil. (Use the oil used for frying).
  2. Splutter the cumin seeds. Add the sliced onions and saute till light brown. Add the chopped garlic, ginger and saute well. Now add the chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder and mix well.
  3. When the raw smell goes, add the sliced tomatoes and saute well. Now add the fried bhindis and mix well in this masala. Close the lid and cook at medium heat for 5 to 8 minutes. After that add the kasuri methi and coriander leaves.
  4. Serve hot with chapatis or even with plain rice.
