ABOUT Assorted Sweet Potato Balls RECIPE

Sweet Potato Balls have been prepared from Mashed sweet potatoes, some spices and stuffed with yummy fillings which been prepared from fresh grated coconut, Gulkand, Dry fruits and chocolate mixture. Sweet potato balls with grated coconut, dry fruit mixture can be eaten for fasting as well. These tastes awesome with sweet curd.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Cooked and mashed Sweet potatoes – 2 cups
  2. Corn flour (white) – 1/4th cup or (sabudana or Sago flour)
  3. Fresh Grated coconut – 1/2cup or desiccated coconut
  4. Roasted White sesame seeds – 1/4th cup
  5. Roasted Khaskhas or Poppy seeds – 3tsp
  6. Cumin Powder – 1/4th tsp
  7. Amchur Powder – 1tsp
  8. Sugar – 1/4th cup
  9. Gulkand – 1 tablespoon
  10. Roasted and Finley Chopped Mix dry fruits (Almonds, cashew nuts and raisins) – 2tbsp for dry fruits stuffing + 1 tbsp for Gulkand stuffing + 1 tbsp for Chocolate stuffing
  11. Chocolate – 50gms
  12. Cream – 1or 2 tbsp
  13. Honey – 1tbsp
  14. Nutmeg powder – ½ tsp.
  15. Cardamom powder – 1tsp
  16. Ghee or Oil - 2 cups for frying
  17. salt as per taste
  18. Other ingredients – for serving - Sweet curd – 1 cup

Instructions

  1. In a bowl Mix boiled, mashed sweet potatoes, salt, sugar, cumin powder, Amchur Powder and mix into a tight dough. Mix corn flour if required. If fasting add Sago flour.
  2. 1st Stuffing- In a pan roast (if not roasted) white sesame seeds and khuskhus/ Poppy seeds. Add fresh grated coconut. Cook for 5-7 mints. Add sugar, nutmeg powder, cardamom powder and cook well. Keep aside.
  3. 2nd Stuffing- Take Finely Chopped dry fruits. Add honey, mix well.
  4. 3rd Stuffing- In a bowl take Gulkand. Add few chopped dry fruits. Mix well.
  5. 4th Stuffing - In a bowl take chocolate, melt it in double boiler method. Add cream mix well. Add dry fruits. Mix well, keep in the refrigerator.
  6. Assembling - Make a small disk or cup of sweet potato mixture. Add first stuffing and make a smooth round ball.
  7. Like this make balls with other stuffing’s and keep ready for frying.
  8. In a wok add Ghee or oil. Fry stuffed Sweet potato balls till golden brown on low to medium flame.
  9. Also, small cutlets can be prepared with stuffing’s and shallow fried.
  10. Serve hot with sweet curd.
