ABOUT Delicious Sweet Potato Balls RECIPE

Adapted from Malaysian Dessert Ondeh, these are yummy and mildly sweet balls

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup boiled and mashed sweet potato
  2. 1/4 cup +2 tbsp rice flour
  3. 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  4. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  5. 1/2 cup palm sugar
  6. 1/2 cup Dessicated Coconut
  7. Salt Pinch
  8. Food colour ( optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add sweet potato, flour, vanilla extract, salt. Mix well. Knead into soft malleable dough
  2. Take lemon sized ball. Flatten it as much possible. Place 1 TSP palm sugar at centre if you don't have palm sugar, you can alternatively use brown sugar or jaggery too. Seal edges gently and roll gently like ball. Do until dough is completed
  3. Boil water in medium sized vessel. Drop balls and lower heat to medium. Cook until balls start floating. Do gently stir in between to prevent balls from sticking to bottom. The balls should be cooked between 4-5 minutes
  4. Using slotted spoon, take out balls. Roll it over dessicated coconut while still hot Serve warm
