Homemade sweets are always safer for kids. I have given a twist to the recipe by adding cashew and peanuts to the Kesar Peda and adding peanuts gave it a totally different taste and aroma.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Full fat milk 3 cups
  2. Sugar little less than 1 /2 cup
  3. Cashew 10 ( grind to make powder)
  4. Roasted Peanuts ( coarse grind)
  5. Corn flour 2 teaspoon
  6. Citric acid a pinch + 1 / 2 pinch
  7. Saffron few strands
  8. Milk 1 tablespoon
  9. Almonds, Pistachio for garnishing (blanched and chopped) 2 teaspoon
  10. Cardamom powder 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Boil milk in a nonstick / heavy bottom pan. Keep an iron griddle under the pan to avoid sticking.
  2. After milk starts boiling lower the flame. Keep stirring in between.
  3. After 5 minutes add cashew powder and roasted peanuts powder.
  4. Boil for 15 to 20 minutes scraping the sides of the pan. Add sugar after milk boils for 10 minutes.
  5. Now dissolve saffron in warm milk and add. Cook till it is thick.
  6. Now dissolve citric acid in warm water and add to the mixture.
  7. Cook again for 4 to 5 minutes. Scrap the sides in between.
  8. Now mixture will be of "Mava"consistency.
  9. Turn off the gas. Transfer the mixture into the bowl or plate and let cool.
  10. Add cardamom powder. Mix well to form a dough like.
  11. Grease your palm with clarified butter. Make balls and form "Peda" like shape.
  12. Now place blanched and chopped almonds and pistachio in the center and press a little.
  13. Your yummy homemade mava peda are ready to serve.
  14. Enjoy with your family and kids.
