ABOUT Kheerni (Sindhi Dessert) RECIPE

Kheerni is a Sindhi kheer made in all the Sindhi homes on festive and auspicious days. Unlike regular kheer, this popular kheerni is thicker in texture and milky.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Milk (750millilitre- boiled)
  2. Rice (1/2 Cup and half Cooked)
  3. Almonds (8-9 chopped)
  4. Raisins (9-10)
  5. Green Cardamom (2)
  6. Sugar (5-6 teaspoons)
  7. Homemade Clarified Butter / Desi Ghee (2 teaspoon)

Instructions

  1. Heat desi ghee in a pan, add nuts and sauté them for 30-40 seconds.
  2. In a heavy bottomed pan, start boiling milk alongwith green cardamom. Add the rice and cook it for 8-10 minutes on medium heat.
  3. Next add the nuts and cook it for 5 more minutes.
  4. Now add sugar, mix it and cook it for another 5 minutes.
  5. Kheerni is ready to serve.
  6. Garnish with some chopped almonds and raisins.Serve hot or chilled.
