ABOUT Spring Onion Flan(Eggless) RECIPE

There are many flan recipes, mine is inpired by Nita mehta's eggless savory flan recipe with little variation according to my family's taste.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For tart
  2. All purpose flour 1 cup (100 grams) Salted
  3. Butter 40 grams cut into cubes and chilled
  4. Cold water 1 tablespoon
  5. Pinch of salt
  6. For Filling
  7. butter 1 tablespoon
  8. Large spring onions 5 chopped with the greens
  9. corn kernels 1 tablespoon
  10. Cheese spread 1 tablespoon
  11. Oregano 1/6 teaspoon
  12. chilly flakes 1/6 teaspoon
  13. Papper a pinch
  14. Salt to taste
  15. For topping
  16. Tomato 1 small and firm cut into slices
  17. Babycorn 1 cut into slices
  18. Mozzarella cheese grated 3 tablespoon
  19. Processed cheese 1 cube (grated)

Instructions

  1. Place plain flour in a bowl. Add salt and butter.
  2. Mix the butter into the flour with finger tips till it resembles bread crumbs.
  3. Add water and gather into a firm dough. Do not knead too much.
  4. Keep aside covered in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Remove from fridge and sprinkle dry flour on a rolling board. Roll the dough into a thin chapati between two sheets of polythene .
  6. Place it in the tart tin covering the sides too.
  7. Pick the tart and bake at 200 °C in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes till light golden brown.
  8. For the filling
  9. Heat the butter in a nonstick pan and add the chopped spring onions and corn kernels. Cook till soft and water evaporates.
  10. Remove from heat . Add cheese spread, oregano , chilly flakes, papper and salt.
  11. Mix and cool slightly .
  12. To Assemble
  13. Mix both cheese together .
  14. Arrange the filling in the tart.
  15. Arrange the tomatoes and babycorn.
  16. Sprinkle the cheese over the filling and bake again at 200°C in a preheated oven for 15 minutes till the edges turn brown.
  17. Serve hot.
