ABOUT Onion chutney RECIPE

onion chutney is very tasty and goes well with dosa,idli and even accompained with rice rotis and you can mix in rice.It is prepared very easily.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. -6 to 7 onions
  2. -12 dry red chillies
  3. -3 table spoon tamarind
  4. -salt as per taste
  5. -Any cooking oil
  6. For Tempering:
  7. -Half tsp of cumin,mustard seeds
  8. -Half tsp of split black gram
  9. -Few curry leaves

Instructions

  1. -Take little oil in vessel and add diced onions to it
  2. -saute till the onions change little brown color
  3. -Remove the sauted onions and cool them
  4. -Add 12 dry red chillies and 3tbsp tamarind to same vessel and saute for few minutes
  5. -Add salt in blender and transfer all sauted ingredients to blender and blend to coarse paste
  6. -After blending next step is tempering.Take little oil in vessel and add cumin,mustard seeds,curry leaves and split black gram,
  7. -When they crackle add blended paste and saute till it thickens by stirring continuosly.
  8. -Store in airtight box in refrigerator and enjoy the chutney with rice or rotis.
