Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Tamarind juice taken from a lemon size tamarind 500 ml
  2. Sambhar powder 3 tea spoons
  3. Orange peel taken from 2 Oranges
  4. Small onions / Shallots 5 or 6 chopped (optional)
  5. Sesame / Til / Gingelly oil 3 table spoons
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Jagerry a small gooseberry size
  8. Curry leaves few
  9. For Seasoning:
  10. Mustard seeds 1/2 tea
  11. Fenugreek seeds / venthayam 1 tea spoon
  12. Thur dal 2 tea spoons
  13. Red Chillies 2
  14. Asafoetida / Hing powder 1/4 tea spoon

Instructions

  1. Wash the peel and chop in to thin pieces.
  2. Heat a pan with oil.Do the seasoning and once they splutter add few curry leaves and fry the chopped orange peel in medium flame for 2 minutes.
  3. Then add the shallots and sambhar powder to the oil and stir for few seconds.
  4. Pour in the tamarind juice.
  5. Add required salt and jagerry.Allow them to boil well till the kuzhambu thickens and oil separates.
  6. Garnish with curry leaves.It can be kept for two or three days.
