ABOUT khichadi Achari RECIPE

I have made khichadi Achari in my innovative way in my style for Ramadan Kareem and this is very easy to prepare only in 10 minutes for iftaar or for guests . The "chaand " and star you see is made out of home made papad and green chutney to make the whole presentation more closer to Ramadan . I have stuffed pickle n cheese inside the Khichadi dumplings .... to give a healthy n yummy taste so that kids n adults both enjoy eating !!!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. left over khichadi 1 cup
  2. onion -1 cup finely chopped
  3. Garlic - 1 teaspoon grated
  4. Cumin seeds-1/2 teaspoon
  5. Ghee-2teaspoon
  6. Cumin powder-1/2 teaspoon
  7. chat masala-1/2teaspoon
  8. Coriander leaves- chopped
  9. mango pickle -2 table spoon chopped
  10. Cheese-1/2 cup grated
  11. Red chilly powder-1/2 teaspoon
  12. Ginger n garlic chopped -1 teaspoon each
  13. Papad- chopped 1/2 cup
  14. Bread crumbs-1/2 cup
  15. Oil for frying
  16. salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. Take left over khichadi .
  2. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a sauce pan, add cumin. when cumin splutters then add onions.
  3. Saute onions till translucent.
  4. Once the onions becomes translucent, then add, green chilli ,ginger. And garlic
  5. Add turmeric powder and red chilly powder . Chat masala , cumin powder and saute then add coriander leaves chopped
  6. Then add khichadi mixture
  7. Stir for a minute
  8. And stir well . Switch off the gas
  9. Remove the khichadi from heat , transfer into a separate bowl , allow it to cool completely.
  10. Divide the khichadi into small dumplings .little bigger then tennis ball size .
  11. Make a mixture of grated cheese & chopped pickle.
  12. Fill the khichadi dumplings with mixed cheese n pickles ... you can take any pickles of your taste I have taken homemade mango pickle ...
  13. First roll the dumplings in cornflower water then in chopped papad then roll it in bread crumbs .
  14. Heat oil in a kadai when u start making the khichadi mixture fry the dumplings till crisp & golden brown.
  15. Serve with pappadam ,yogurt and green chutney .
