Generally in this recipe, Gram flour is roasted in lots of oil. I have made it by roasting gram flour without oil. And made gravy by seasoning it with very little oil. The gravy tastes awesome when you lick the drumsticks.
Boil drumsticks in water till cooked. Let it cool
Dry roast gram flour on slow flame. Let it cool.
Add water of boiled drumsticks to the flour and make batter.
Heat oil in a heavy bottom pan, add asafoetida and mustard seeds.
After that add garlic crushed, saute and add gram flour batter.
Add ginger, salt, turmeric and chili powder. Cook the batter to required consistancy. If eating with rice than little thin if with roti than thick.
Beat the curd and add. Grind roasted peanuts coarse and add.
Add Drumsticks and boil for 3 to 4 minutes. Turn off the gas. Let the drumsticks soak the masala taste of gravy.
Serve with garnish of coriander leaves. Serve with Roti, rice or Bhakhri. You can add Jaggery / sugar. ( i have not added).
You can roast the gram flour in oil but need some more oil. Add hot water as the flour gets roasted.
