This is an authentic bengali dish. Prawns cooked in poppy seeds paste.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. King size prawn 5-6 pieces
  2. Poppy seed paste 2-3 tablespoons
  3. Mustard paste 2 tablespoons
  4. 1 medium sized onion paste
  5. 4-5 green chillies paste
  6. Ginger-garlic paste 2 tablespoons
  7. Shredded coconut 1 and 1/2 cup
  8. Mustard oil
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  11. sugar

Instructions

  1. Wash the prawn and marinate with salt and turmeric powder.
  2. Make a fine paste of poppy seed, chillies, mustard together in mixer grinder.
  3. Make a fine paste of onion.
  4. Make a paste of ginger-garlic.
  5. Take a non-stick pan and heat the mustard oil.
  6. Fry prawns a little.
  7. In the same oil add onion, ginger-garlic paste and mix.
  8. Add the paste of poppy seed, chillies, mustard and mix well.
  9. Add shredded coconut and mix.
  10. Add some water.
  11. Add sugar.
  12. Now place the prawn pieces gently and pour a little mustard oil over it.
  13. Cover with a lid. When the gravy is thick serve hot with rice.
