ABOUT Bedami Poori RECIPE

It is special breakfast of Uttar Pradesh. An all time favourite of everyone and served with dubki wale aloo.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dhuli urad dal - 1/2 cup ( soaked for 3 hours)
  2. All purpose wheat flour - 1 Cup
  3. Semolina - 1/4 Cup
  4. Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  5. Hing - 1 teaspoon
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Green chilli - 2
  8. Ginger paste - 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Jeera powder - 1 teaspoon
  10. Dhaniya powder - 1 teaspoon
  11. Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
  12. Ghee - 2 tablespoons
  13. Oil for frying
  14. Water for making dough

Instructions

  1. Drain water from dal and put it into blender, add hing, salt, green chilli, ginger and make a coarse paste.
  2. Now take flour and semolina in a bowl, add sugar, some salt, jeera dhaniya powder, garam masala, Mix well.
  3. Now add ghee and crumble. Then add dal paste and make a fine tight dough for making poori. If needed then add some water. Set aside for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes again knead the dough for smooth finish.
  4. Heat oil in pan for frying the pooris. Now take a small piece of dough and make a ball. Roll a poori with the help of rolling pin.
  5. Repeat this process for other pooris also. Put the poori into hot oil and when one side cook turn on another side and fry till golden brown.
  6. Remove it on a kitchen towel. Serve with dubki wale Allo or any gravy or raita.
