ABOUT Plain Dosa RECIPE

Plain dosas are light and easy to make. Here is a basic recipe that can transform to masala, Mysore masala, cheese and many more variations.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1 cup : Urad gota
  2. 1.5 cups : Long grain rice
  3. 1.5 cups : Sona masoori rice
  4. 1 tsp : Fenugreek seeds
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Oil for pan frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the dal, rice and fenugreek seeds in enough water for overnight. Next morning grind them into a smooth batter adding fresh water as required.
  2. Rest the batter covered in a warm place for 4 to 6 hours until fermented. Add salt as per taste to the batter. Adjust its consistency to pouring.
  3. Heat a skillet , smear few drops of oil and wipe with a paper towel. Now add in one or two ladle fulls of batter according to the skillet size and spread the batter in outward circular motion into a thin crepe.
  4. Add a teaspoon of oil over its sides and center. Roast until golden.
  5. Fold and serve with chutney, sambhar or any dip of your choice.
