ABOUT Wheat Flour Khichu RECIPE

A steamed dish which is a little spicy. Topped with ghee and red chili.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 Cups - Wheat flour
  2. Baking soda or papad khara - 1/2 tsp
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Green Chilli - 1 - 2
  5. Olive or any cooking oil - 1 tsp
  6. Boiling water - 1 Cup

Instructions

  1. Add papad khar or baking soda to boiling water to make it salty.
  2. Take wheat flour in bowl, add salt, oil, crushed green chili. Add hot water little by little to the flour. Keep mixing it with a spoon till becomes like dough. Make small balls from this dough, flatten it from the center to make a thumbprint.
  3. Keep it in greased sieve with large holes in the pressure cooker or put them in idli maker. Steam for 20 minutes. Top it with little ghee.
  4. Sprinkle little red chili powder and a little roasted cumin powder.
  5. Enjoy with chutney, aachar or ketchup.
