Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Kabuli chana 4 cups
  2. Finely chopped tomatoes 3 cups
  3. Finely chopped onion 1
  4. Onion puree 2 cups
  5. Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  6. Grated ginger 2 teaspoons
  7. Finely chopped green chilly as per taste
  8. Oil 1 tablespoon
  9. Jeera 2 teaspoons
  10. Haldi powder 1/2 teaspoon
  11. Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  12. Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  13. Dry anardana powder 1 teaspoon
  14. Tamarind pulp 1 teaspoon
  15. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  16. Crushed black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
  17. Crushed cloves 3 to 4
  18. Salt to taste
  19. Coriander chopped for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Wash chana and soak in sufficient water for at least 5 to 6 hours (or overnight )
  2. Add salt and preesure cook chana for 4 to 5 whistles
  3. Heat oil in a pan and crackle jeera
  4. Add Haldi, Mirchi and coriander powder
  5. Sauté till aroma comes and add finely chopped onion and sauté till golden brown ...add crushed garlic and chopped green chilly too
  6. Add onion and tomato paste and sauté till oil separates
  7. Add all masala, Anardana powder, crushed black pepper and clove
  8. Add boiled chana, Imli pulp and adjust salt and water
  9. Cook covered for next 5 to 10 minutes on low heat
  10. Chhole masala is ready to serve,garnish with chopped coriander
