ABOUT Peshawari chhole RECIPE

Spicy chole with lot of flavors, serve with naan or serve with samosas as teatime snacks, original recipe by Archana's Kitchen .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chole 2 cups
  2. Onions 2, sliced
  3. Tomatoes chopped 2 large
  4. 2 chopped green chilli
  5. Ginger 1 grated
  6. Garlic pods crushed 4
  7. Salt as per taste
  8. Tea bags 2
  9. 2 cardamom
  10. Cinnamon 1 inch
  11. Pomegranate powder 2 tsp
  12. Coriander powder 1 1/2 tsp
  13. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  14. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  15. Oil, as required
  16. Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  17. 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak kabuli chana for 6_8 hrs and drain water
  2. Pressure cook for 4_5 whistles, with 4_5 cups of water, cardamom, cinnamon and salt
  3. After whistle, simmer the heat and cook another 10 mins
  4. Keep aside for 15 mins
  5. Add 1 tbsp oil
  6. Add onion, fry until they are light brown in colour
  7. Now add chopped tomatoes, green chilli, ginger and garlic paste
  8. Saute for 4_5 mins
  9. Add chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and pomegranate powder
  10. Also add garam masala
  11. Cook until tomatoes are soft and oil separates from the masala
  12. Now add boiled chickpeas along with the spices, reserve 1 cup of boiled water for gravy
  13. Stir oil, add salt
  14. Now simmer the heat, cook chickpeas for another 10 mins, cover with a lid and boil medium heat
  15. Now add water and boil in medium heat for 5 mins
  16. Add garam masala
  17. Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice
